Provat Chatterjee (1929–2012), born in Kumira, Satkhira, was a man of discipline, integrity, and deep values. During the time of the 1947 partition, when his siblings migrated to India, he chose to stay back in Bangladesh with his mother—a decision that reflected his strong sense of duty and family responsibility from an early age. Though not academically accomplished himself, he held a lifelong belief in the power of education and aspired for future generations to achieve academic and professional success.
As a devoted father and principled individual, he instilled strong moral values, respect for time, and a sense of responsibility in his children—each of whom went on to establish themselves successfully in their respective paths. Known for his fairness and empathy, he left behind a legacy that continues to inspire.
Honoring this legacy, his third son, Sukumar Chatterjee—co-founder of New Children Grace School—established the Provat Chatterjee Memorial Trust (PCMT) in 2022. Under this initiative, the PCMT Scholarship was introduced to support and recognize students based on both merit and need.
The scholarship program reflects the school’s commitment to academic excellence and student development. Each year, two students from every class are selected for one year of financial support and recognition. Additionally, four students from Class 5 receive extended scholarships for three years, ensuring sustained encouragement during a crucial stage of their education.
The PCMT Scholarship not only rewards achievement but also motivates students to strive for higher standards, discipline, and continuous growth. It stands as a meaningful step toward building confident, capable, and future-ready learners.
